The Ideal Alpaca Community

The Ideal Alpaca Community is an alpaca marketing and genetic improvement cooperative. Northwest Alpacas (alpacas.com) is its founding member. Participation in the Ideal Alpaca Community will produce genetically superior alpacas through the use of classic livestock breeding systems and progeny testing. The IAC also assists its community members in marketing their alpacas through the Internet.

Alpaca Registry

The Alpaca Registry, Inc. is a non-profit corporation and owns the Alpaca Registry database. It is governed by a board of directors who are elected by its membership. They are responsible for policies governing registration, transfer of ownership, and the screening of non-registered alpacas.

The alpaca industry had the foresight to create the Alpaca Registry to maintain the value of its bloodstock. The Registry is a database for containing the genealogy, blood type, and ownership records of alpacas in the United States. The Registry accepts only offspring of registered alpacas that qualify by blood typing

Alpaca Owners and Breeders Assn.

AOBA was formed to promote public awareness and membership appreciation of the alpaca’s unique qualities, to educate the membership on the care and breeding of the alpaca, to promote the growth of the alpaca industry as a whole, and to foster the establishment of the breed outside of its native land by encouraging husbandry and breeding practices based upon herd health, overall soundness, and alpaca fiber production and products.
